SUM AND DIFFERENCE AMPLIFIERS: Difference Amplifier.

The Difference Amplifier (analogue subtractor), gives an output proportional to the Difference between the input potentials. With equal values for the input and feedback resistors the gain will be unity or one.

Output phase will be dependent upon the greater of the inverted (-) or non-inverted (+) input. By changing the ratio of Rf to R the voltage difference can be amplified. Note, Rf appears in two places and will have equal values.
